DHARAMSALA, India : Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill both struck hundreds and combined in a burgeoning 160-run stand for the unbroken second wicket to put India firmly in the lead on day two of the fifth and final test against England on Friday.
Rohit Sharma's expression said it all after a disappointing decision from umpire Joel Wilson on Day 1 of the fifth Test match between India and England in Dharamsala on Thursday. During the seventh over of India's innings, a delivery from James Anderson went down the leg side and brushed Rohit's thigh pad on the way but England decided to appeal for a catch. The umpire raised his finger in response but Rohit reviewed the decision immediately and his expression made it clear that he was not pleased with the decision. Replays showed that Rohit was correct and the decision was reversed.
As Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill piled up their respective centuries on Day 2 of the 5th Test in Dharamsala, England captain Ben Stokes took the matter into his own hands, bowling for the first time in the series. Rohit and Gill looked in absolute control in the first session which was dominated by India. At the lunch break, Stokes was seen warming up with the ball, sending a signal that he could bowl soon. The England captain bowled the second over after Lunch and clean-bowled Rohit on the very first delivery.
