The squads for the Hundred were burped out on Tuesday, two days from the start of the County Championship season. India lifted a record-extending fifth ICC U19 World Cup title after defeating England in the final at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua on Saturday. The Yash Dhull-led side defeated the Three Lions in the summit clash by four wickets. Earlier, India had won the U19 World Cup in 2000, 2008, 2012, and 2018. Chasing 190, India got off to the worst start possible as Joshua Boyden dismissed Angkrish Raghuvanshi (0) on the third ball of the innings. Harnoor Singh and Shaik Rasheed then got together at the crease and the duo put on 49 runs for the second wicket. As soon as India started to gain an upper hand, England stormed right back into the contest in the 18th over as Thomas Aspinwall dismissed Harnoor (21), reducing India to 49/2.
India's Kaushal Tambe had a heart-in-the-mouth moment in the ICC U19 World Cup final against England on Saturday when he almost dropped a simple catch before recovering to take a one-handed stunner. Tambe was fielding in deep square leg when England's James Rew, batting on 95, pulled a Ravi Kumar delivery towards him. Tambe almost spilled the ball while trying to take the catch but recovered in time to jump forward and take a stunning one-handed catch to send Rew back to the pavilion. The dismissal was crucial as it broke a 93-run wicket for England's fourth wicket and India went on to take the remaining two wickets for just five more runs.
Raj Bawa became the first Indian cricketer to bag a fifer in an ICC tournament final when he finished with figures of 5/31 in the U19 World Cup final against England in North Sound, Antigua on Saturday. Bawa combined with Ravi Kumar, who bagged 4/34, to bowl England out for 189 in the summit clash. Bawa also became the first player since Pakistan's Anwar Ali in 2006 to pick a five-wicket haul in an ICC U19 World Cup final. In Saturday's final, Bawa and Ravi's heroics helped reduce England to 61/6 at one point and 91/7 later on. However, James Rew scored a fighting knock of 95 to keep England in the contest and take them to a total of 189.
