LONDON: Ivan Toney did his case for a call-up to England's World Cup squad no harm by scoring twice as Brentford beat Brighton 2-0 on Friday (Oct 14).
LONDON -Brentford striker Ivan Toney scored with a deft backheel finish in the first half and added a penalty in the second to give his side a 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion in their Friday night Premier League clash at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Brentford put their bad run of recent form behind them as they held firm to grind out a precious 2-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion at the Gtec Stadium. Two goals from Ivan Toney were enough to give the Bees a crucial three points, that sees them leapfrog Liverpool momentarily into the top half of the Premier League table.
Bryan Mbeumo had a 10th-minute goal for the visitors chalked off after a VAR review found Ivan Toney to be offside in the build-up, and 11 minutes later Guimaraes stooped to score with a superb header from Kieran Trippier's cross in the 21st minute. Jacob Murphy added a second shortly afterwards as Brentford's defence came unstuck while trying to play out from the back, with Callum Wilson snapping up a loose ball and squaring to Murphy, who slammed the ball home first-time.
NEWCASTLE: It seemed only fitting that one year on from those jubilant takeover scenes, Newcastle United would again create a party atmosphere at St. James’ Park. Eddie Howe’s Magpies were in rampant form on Tyneside as they put Brentford to the sword, with Bruno Guimaraes the man at the heart of it all.
Bruno Guimaraes helped himself to a double as Newcastle celebrated a year under their new owners with a stylish 5-1 Premier League victory over Brentford.
