PARIS : Highlights of the seventh day at the French Open, the second Grand Slam of the year, on Saturday (times GMT):
PARIS — Top-ranked Iga Swiatek has won her 31st consecutive match and is into the fourth round at Roland Garros for the fourth time in four appearances with a sometimes-shaky 6-3, 7-5 victory over Danka Kovinic on Saturday.
Iga Swiatek racked up her 31st straight win to reach the French Open last 16 on Saturday but only after being tested by Danka Kovinic of Montenegro. Swiatek, the 2020 champion in Paris, dropped serve three times against her 95th-ranked opponent before sealing a 6-3, 7-5 victory.
Iga Swiatek overcame a second-set wobble to beat Danka Kovinic 6-3 7-5 to progress to the fourth round of the French Open. The Polish superstar looked set for serene progression after sealing the first set 6-3 and then leading 4-1 in the second.
World number two Daniil Medvedev and 2021 runner-up Stefanos Tsitsipas target the French Open last 16 on Saturday while untroubled women's top seed Iga Swiatek eyes a 31st successive win. Medvedev and Tsitsipas are seeded to meet in the semi-finals. So far, Medvedev has looked the most likely to reach that stage, dropping just 16 games in two straight-sets wins.
Cameron Norrie’s bid to reach the fourth round of a grand slam for the first time was halted by Russian Karen Khachanov.
Day seven at the 2022 French Open will see Iga Swiatek, Daniil Medvedev and Stefanos Tsitsipas all in action. World No. 1 Iga Swiatek will be looking to make it 31 wins in a row when she takes on Danka Kovinic first on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
