Casper Ruud gets his preparation for Wimbledon underway this afternoon with an exhibition match against Belgium’s David Goffin at Hurlingham Club in the Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic.
Wimbledon is set to kick off without Roger Federer for the first time in over two decades next week and with the clock ticking down on the Swiss maestro's career John McEnroe said he was grateful for being able to watch him play the sport for so long.
Nick Kyrgios has been forced to withdraw from his match with Roberto Bautista Agut at the Mallorca Championships due to an abdominal injury. The pair were set to play on Wednesday evening in the last 16 of the Wimbledon warm-up event in Spain.
Alex Corretja believes Nick Kyrgios will be a dangerous opponent for any seeded player he faces at Wimbledon this summer. Kyrgios skipped the clay-court season to prepare for the grass campaign and will enter Wimbledon as an unseeded player. Last week, Kyrgios beat Stefanos Tsitsipas and Pablo Carreno Busta to reach the Halle Open semi-finals, but lost 4-6 7-6 (7-2) 7-6 (7-4) to Hubert Hurkacz.
Russian Daniil Medvedev remained top of the ATP rankings released on Monday despite his loss in the Halle final over the weekend to Poland's Hubert Hurkacz.
Hurkacz's victory saw him jump two spots into 10th place while Italian Matteo Berrettini, who won on grass at Queen's, falls to 11th and Britain's Cameron Norrie to 12th. Serbia's Filip Krajinovic, the losing Queen's finalist, rose from 48th to 31st. ATP rankings as of June 20, 20221.
For the second week in a row, Daniil Medvedev lost a grass-court final as he was beaten by Hubert Hurkacz in the Halle Open, but this time his emotions got the better of him.
