Pakistan Pacer Mohammad Wasim Ruled Out Of Asia Cup, Hasan Ali Named As Replacement

Pakistan team dealt with another blow ahead of the clash against India as their fast bowler Mohammad Wasim has been ruled out of the T20 Asia Cup due to a left side strain, Pakistan Cricket Board announced on Friday. "He had picked up the injury while bowling in Pakistan's practice session on Wednesday. The bowler was assessed by the team medical staff, and an MRI scan in Dubai confirmed the diagnosis. The medical team will closely monitor Wasim's rehabilitation and his return to competitive cricket will be reassessed before the England tour to Pakistan," the PCB statement read.

Pakistan drop under-performing Hasan Ali for Netherlands tour, T20 Asia Cup

Pakistan on Wednesday dropped under-performing fast bowler Hasan Ali for the tour of the Netherlands and the Asia Cup later this month. The 28-year-old was player of the tournament in Pakistan's Champions Trophy win in 2017. But Hasan took just three wickets in two Tests in Sri Lanka last month, claimed only three wickets for 222 runs in his last three one-day internationals and went wicket-less in two of his last three Twenty20 internationals. Chief selector Mohammad Waseem said Hasan needed a break. "Hasan has been given a break from international cricket and he has been replaced by Naseem Shah," Waseem said in a Pakistan Cricket Board statement.
