Pakistan drop under-performing Hasan Ali for Netherlands tour, T20 Asia Cup

Pakistan on Wednesday dropped under-performing fast bowler Hasan Ali for the tour of the Netherlands and the Asia Cup later this month. The 28-year-old was player of the tournament in Pakistan's Champions Trophy win in 2017. But Hasan took just three wickets in two Tests in Sri Lanka last month, claimed only three wickets for 222 runs in his last three one-day internationals and went wicket-less in two of his last three Twenty20 internationals. Chief selector Mohammad Waseem said Hasan needed a break. "Hasan has been given a break from international cricket and he has been replaced by Naseem Shah," Waseem said in a Pakistan Cricket Board statement.

Sri Lanka tightened its grip on the 2nd Test match on day 3 of the second Test match against Pakistan despite a spirited comeback by the touring team's bowlers. Pakistan were bowled out for 231 in their first innings with Ramesh Mendis picking up a fifer. This gave the hosts a sizeable first innings lead but the Pakistan bowlers picked up regular wickets to deny Sri Lanka a clear advantage yet.

Pakistan players to get separate Test and limited overs contracts

Previously, top players were offered one contract and could be called on to play any version of the game, but specialisation has made this out of fashion for many cricketing nations. "These contracts are part of our vision and strategy to identify, groom and develop specialists for the traditional and purist format of the game," chief selector Mohammad Wasim told press conference.

Watch: Pakistan Cricket Team "Players Beat The Multan Heat" Ahead Of ODI Series vs West Indies

Pakistan cricket team is gearing up to face West Indies in a three-ODI series in Multan starting with the first match on Wednesday. Heat is going to play a major factor in the series as the temperature in the Pakistan city is expected to hover around 45 degree Celsius. The players are also aware of this. "It's a challenging scenario but now it has been decided and we are preparing for it. Definitely it is hot, but we are having a conditioning camp and acclimatising to the weather. We started our training camp earlier in the day from 2:30pm so that we could feel the heat and get ourselves ready for the matches," Babar Azam, Pakistan captain, said in a press conference recently.
