IPL 2022, RR vs GT Report: Gujarat Titans Beat Rajasthan Royals To Go Top Of The Table

Skipper Hardik Pandya enhanced his reputation as a number four batter with an unbeaten 87 off 52 balls as Gujarat Titans trounced Rajasthan Royals by 37 runs in the Indian Premier League here on Thursday. Hardik, whose strike rate and approach has been questioned at his new position, played responsibly when it was needed before displaying the power he is known for to lead Titans to 192 for four after being sent into bat. The in form Jos Buttler (54 off 24) provided another flying start to Royals but the rest of the batting unit did not deliver as the innings ended at 155 for nine in 20 overs.

IPL 2022, GT Predicted XI vs RR: Will Matthew Wade Retain His Position For Rajasthan Royals Clash?

Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans (GT) suffered their first loss by 8 wickets against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) journey on Monday, April 11. This loss came after a three-match unbeaten start to IPL 2022 by GT that saw them beat Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) on back-to-back occasions. However, Pandya wouldn't be much perturbed by one bad outing and can still give one last chance to players struggling to find their footing so far. One such player is Matthew Wade, who has so far recorded scores of 30,1,6, and 19.

Hardik Pandya Receives Support From Graeme Swann, Matthew Hayden After He Loses Cool On Teammate Mohammed Shami

Hardik Pandya was on the receiving end of plenty of criticism after Gujarat Titans' (GT) first defeat of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season, on Monday. Gujarat lost by eight wickets against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2022's Match 21, despite an unbeaten half-century by their captain Pandya. The all-rounder's unbeaten knock of 50 runs off 42 balls helped his side post 162 for seven in 20 overs, setting a target of 163 runs which SRH reached with five balls to spare. Other than getting criticised for his side's lack of runs in the game, Pandya was also under the spotlight for having a go at teammate Mohammed Shami for not attempting a catch. Despite fans not taking it well, the all-rounder received backing from legends Graeme Swann and Matthew Hayden.

Gujarat Titans suffered their first loss of IPL 2022 on Monday as they were beaten comprehensively by Sunrisers Hyderabad. Gujarat Titans Were "7-10 Runs Short" Against SunRisers Hyderabad: Hardik Pandya

Gujarat Titans skipper Hardik Pandya admitted that a total of 162 was at least 10 runs short of what would have been a par-score against Sunrisers Hyderabad, which chased down the target by losing only two wickets in an IPL game on Monday. This was Gujarat Titans' first defeat after winning three matches on the trot in their maiden appearance in IPL. "I think batting wise we were 7-10 runs short, that would have made the difference in the end. We started well with the ball, but those two overs where they scored 30 runs, got them back into the game," Hardik said after the match.
