England's flamboyant batter Jason Roy has pulled out of the upcoming IPL citing extended stay in the tournament bubble, dealing a blow to his new franchise Gujarat Titans weeks before the event gets going. According to a report in 'ESPNcricinfo', Roy informed the franchise of his decision last week. The Titans are yet to finalise a replacement.

The 24-year-old from Allahabad was snapped up by the Gujarat Titans at the IPL mega auction on Sunday, bringing immense joy to his family. "His father was a cricketer. He had played Vizzy Trophy and was also a medium-pacer but for some reasons, could not play further. He is currently working in AG office in Allahabad. His son fulfilled his dream," Yash's coach Amit Pal told PTI.

Nehra also sounded a warning to the other teams that they are not here just to participate, but to compete and win.
Ashish Nehra, the head coach of the Gujarat Titans has said that he is pleased with the picks the franchise made in the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction and the Hardik Pandya-led side will play hard and fair in the tournament. "Yeah, see it is not about Gujarat Titans, in the IPL, all teams are very close and they are very good. It is about how they stick and gel together. After the auction, some people will say this team is looking strong but that does not mean that team will win the IPL, sports does not work that way. It is a new franchise and we did manage to put up a really good squad," Nehra said after the mega auction.
The new Ahmedabad franchise of the (Indian Premier League) IPL has been named as the Gujarat Titans. The announcement was made during the pre-match show on Star Sports ahead of the 2nd India vs West Indies ODI in Ahmedabad. The Gujarat Titans will be led by India all-rounder Hardik Pandya while former India pacer Ashish Nehra has been named as the head coach of the side. The Ahmedabad Titans and the Lucknow Super Giants are the two new teams set to join the already existing 8 franchises in the IPL. All 10 teams will be aiming to build a strong team in the mega auction set to take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. Apart from Hardik Pandya, the other two players picked by the franchise from the draft ahead of the mega auction are Rashid Khan and Shubman Gill.
