On Saturday, Pakistan and New Zealand had the opportunity to decode each other's tactics and depth before squaring off in the Champions Trophy opener on February 19. Batting first New Zealand posted a mammoth 330/6 and then sealed a comfortable 78-run victory against Pakistan. After an imposing start in the powerplay, Pakistan's star pace duo Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah were pummelled towards the end. Shaheen picked three wickets but leaked 88 runs in his 10-over spell. On the other hand, Naseem went wicketless and spilt 70 runs in 10 overs.

Before he could spot it, the ball hit Rachin right on his face and the player fell on the ground. Such serious was the blow that he even started bleeding before he was rushed off the ground, with presumably an ice pack placed on his forehead to stop the bleeding.
