Watch: Virat Kohli's Stunned Reaction As Glenn Phillips Takes Absolute Screamer

After a century against Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy match, Virat Kohli could only muster up 11 runs in India's final group stage match against New Zealand on Sunday. Kohli, who was looking to continue his red-hot form, thanks to his 51st ODI hundred in the last match, was undone by a Superman-esque catch from Glenn Phillips at point. Even Kohli couldn't believe what he saw as the Kiwi star dove towards his right-hand side and grabbed the catch to send the India star packing.

Australia or South Africa will return to Pakistan from Dubai for semifinal

DUBAI: Australia and South Africa have been forced to travel to Dubai from Pakistan, the International Cricket Council confirmed Sunday, due to a tangled schedule at the Champions Trophy. India and New Zealand play the final group match on Sunday in Dubai and the result of the game will decide the semifinal line-up. Australia are in Dubai and will train in the afternoon, when South Africa are expected to fly in from Karachi where they hammered England to get top spot in Group B. The winners of the India-New Zealand clash will play Australia, who finished second to South Africa in their group. But irrespective of the placing and opponent, India will play the first semifinal in Dubai on March 4 after they refused to travel to hosts Pakistan for political reasons. That will leave New Zealand and either Australia or South Africa, hours after landing in Dubai, to head back to Pakistan for the second semifinal scheduled on March 5 in Lahore. Pundits and ex-cricketers had called out the one-venue “farce” at the 50-over tournament after India were allowed to play all their matches at the Dubai International Stadium. The rest of the seven teams in the eight-nation competition had to shuttle between three Pakistan venues — Karachi, Rawalpindi and Lahore — and the United Arab Emirates. New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips said his team were not thinking about India staying at one venue for the course of the tournament. “No, for us there’s no focus on anything like that,” he said on Saturday. “We have a ‘no-excuses’ mindset.” The final on March 9 will be in Dubai if India go the distance. Lahore’s Qaddafi Stadium will be the venue if India miss out.

"His Legacy...": New Zealand Star Marvels About Virat Kohli Ahead Of His 300th ODI

Virat Kohli is set to play his 300th ODI on Sunday, and New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips said the Indian batting icon's "legacy" will shine through the years while "inspiring" generations of young cricketers. Kohli will become the seventh Indian player to achieve the feat after Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Rahul Dravid, Mohammed Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly and Yuvraj Singh. “Obviously, he's an incredible player. And to know him a little bit personally myself is awesome," said Phillips, who once played alongside Kohli at IPL side Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

India Look To Sharpen Spin Play, Giving A Run To Fringe Players Against New Zealand

A seemingly invincible India will be eager to sharpen their game against spin and give a run to second-line players ahead of the semifinal when they take on New Zealand in their last group match of the Champions Trophy in Dubai on Sunday. A win in their last league match will help India top the Group A. But that position of pride is of little value because they are set to face either Australia or most likely South Africa in the last four, and both of them have handy spin units at their disposal.

Shubman Gill Consolidates Top Spot In ICC ODI Rankings, Virat Kohli Re-Enters Top Five

India opener Shubman Gill on Wednesday consolidated his position atop the ICC ODI Batting Rankings after playing a big role in his team's qualification for the semifinals of the Champions Trophy. Gill, who scored a match-winning 101 not out against Bangladesh and 46 against Pakistan in Group A matches played in Dubai this past week, has gained 21 rating points and moved up to 817 rating points, increasing the gap with second-placed Babar Azam from 23 to 47 points. Virat Kohli's unbeaten 100 against Pakistan has helped him overtake Daryl Mitchell of New Zealand to fifth position while KL Rahul has moved up two places to 15th position after notching an unbeaten 41 against Bangladesh.
