Last year's World Cup hero Matthew Wade (45 not out off 21) and Cameron Green (61 off 30) played special knocks to make short work of a stiff target. It was a formidable total but the way Australia started, an early finish was on the cards. Opening for the first time in international cricket, Green was in a menacing mood as he hammered comeback man Umesh Yadav for four successive boundaries in his first T20 since February 2019. The hosts will aim for an early lead in the series to get back on the track. On the other hand, Australia have arrived in India after clean sweeping New Zealand 3-0 in an ODI series. They played their most recent T20I series in July -- a three-match affair against Sri Lanka that Australia won 2-1. With the Indian side featuring the likes of skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah among others, the Australian team also has some superstars in their ranks like Glenn Maxwell, Tim David, Pat Cummins and Steve Smith. The Aaron Finch led-team is all set to give a tough fight to the hosts, ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup. On Monday, both the teams went to sweat it out in the practice ground and what caught everyone's attention was the all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, playing left-handed shots.
The ICC T20 World Cup will begin in Australia from next month and most of the teams have announced their 15-member squads for the event. The Aussies under Aaron Finch will be looking to defend their title at home while the likes of New Zealand, England, India and Pakistan will look to the Aussies a tough fight.
