The franchise saw Virat Kohli step down from captaincy after IPL 2021 and Faf du Plessis was appointed as skipper ahead of IPL 2022. The veteran batter won the trophy last year with CSK and was purchased by RCB for Rs 7 crore during the mega auction. Speaking exclusively on RCB Bold Diaries, all-rounder Glenn Maxwell revealed that South African cricketer has the respect of everyone within the outfit. "I've had a few messages before the tournament. I think I was probably more focussed on my wedding sort of before that. Knowing obviously that he was going to be the captain, I was in touch with the coaches right throughout the auction, and that process as well. (I) still wanted to be heavily involved in moulding our team going forward", he said.

Glenn Maxwell is confident that new RCB captain Faf du Plessis will do a great job with the franchise as the respect he garners from his colleagues in the change room is there to be seen. Maxwell, who missed the first few games due to his marriage, is expected to play against Mumbai Indians on April 9. However the big-hitting Australian was effusive in his praise for the former Proteas skipper who has replaced Virat Kohli as the skipper this season. "We think he's (Du Plessis) going to do a great job for the franchise and even the way he started, you can tell he's got the respect of everyone in the room. Not only does he lead by example, with his actions, but he also performs really well," Maxwell told RCB 'Bold Diaries'.

Wicketkeeper Matthew Wade and out-of-favour opener Marcus Harris were among those axed on Thursday from Cricket Australia's list of nationally contracted players, but Josh Inglis was a winner. Others omitted include all-rounder Moises Henriques, batsman Ben McDermott and bowlers Jhye Richardson and Kane Richardson. Paceman James Pattinson, who is now retired, and former Test captain Tim Paine were also absent. Paine remains on an indefinite break from the game after a sexting scandal.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) faced off against table-toppers Rajasthan Royals (RR) in match 13 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season on Tuesday. After electing to bowl, RCB did well to put the brakes on RR's innings before a late flourish from Jos Buttler took them to a total of 169 for three in 20 overs. In reply, RCB got off to a good start with skipper Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat but fell off track during the middle, losing quick wickets.
