At least 174 killed and 180 injured after stampede at football match in Indonesia
At least 174 people have died and 180 injured in a stampede and riot at a football match in Indonesia, in one of the world’s worst stadium disasters. The crush took place in the aftermath of home team Arema FC's loss to bitter rivals Persebaya Surabaya at the overcrowded stadium late on Saturday in Malang, East Java. Ad Police officers fired tear gas in an attempt to control the situation, triggering the stampede and cases of suffocation, East Java police chief Nico Afinta told reporters.
