GROVE, England : Franco Colapinto will do a good job for Alpine regardless of any turmoil at the Renault-owned Formula One team and the deadlines they set, the Argentine's previous boss James Vowles said on Tuesday.
LONDON: Formula 1 team Alpine has changed its driver lineup to promote Franco Colapinto for at least the next five Grand Prix races at the expense of Jack Doohan. Alpine confirmed the change Wednesday, a day after Oliver Oakes quit as team principal. The team said Flavio Briatore will continue as executive adviser and will cover Oakes’ duties. “Colapinto will be paired with Pierre Gasly from the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, ahead of a new evaluation before the British Grand Prix in July,” Alpine said in a statement. Alpine is ninth in the F1 constructors’ standings after six rounds.

SHANGHAI : Australian Formula One rookie Jack Doohan has yet to score a regular point from his three races to date but the Alpine driver left the Chinese Grand Prix with four penalty points on his super-licence.
Driver Kush Maini on Tuesday was picked as a Reserve and Test driver by Formula One team Alpine. Following the announcement by Alpine, Kush became the third Indian driver to join a F1 team, joining the elite company of Narain Karthikeyan and Karun Chandok. Kush, who is part of Alpine's academy, joins a big pool of Test and Reserve drivers, including the likes of Franco Colapinto, Ryo Hirakawa and Paul Aron.
