91 All Out: Pakistan Suffer Humiliating Defeat In 1st T20I vs New Zealand

Pakistan slumped to a nine-wicket defeat in the first Twenty20 against New Zealand in Christchurch on Sunday after failing to defend a meagre score of 91. The tourists began the five-match series in disastrous fashion, reduced to 11-4 at the end of the fifth over after towering paceman Kyle Jamieson ran amok with the new ball. They were eventually dismissed for their lowest score in a T20 on New Zealand soil and the home side romped to 92-1 off just 10.1 overs. Jamieson claimed three of the first four wickets to finish with 3-8 off four overs.

Travis Head, David Miller, Pat Cummins Not Retained Ahead Of Major League Cricket Season 3 Draft

Major League Cricket (MLC) franchises have announced their retained players ahead of the third season's draft, set to take place on February 19. Several star players, including Australia's Travis Head and Pat Cummins, along with South Africa's Kagiso Rabada and David Miller, were not retained, ESPNCricinfo reported. Defending champions Washington Freedom retained 15 players, the most by any team, but let go of Head, their joint-highest run-getter alongside captain Steve Smith with 336 runs each. The franchise also let go of bowlers Akeal Hosein and Andrew Tye, who took two and five wickets each last season, as per ESPNCricinfo.

PCB To Pay Additional USD 100,000 To Six High Profile Foreign Players In PSL

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will pay an additional sum of USD 100,000 to six high-profile foreign players in PSL franchisees for making themselves available for the League. The PCB agreed to shell out the money from a special fund which has now grown to USD one million. During the PSL draft, the PCB had set a maximum base price salary of USD 200,000 to franchises for each overseas player. "David Warner for example came onboard for a fee of USD 300,000 and 100,000 of this will be paid to him by the PCB from the special fund," an official with the PSL, said.

R Ashwin Makes Cheeky Tweet As Future CSK Teammate Jamie Overton Warns Batter For Backing Up Too Far

Legendary Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is famous for his warnings to non-striker batters for backing up too far from their crease, and now it seems like he's celebrating those who are keeping up with that spirit. Ashwin took to social media to praise English all-rounder Jamie Overton, who also did almost the same during a Big Bash League (BBL) 2024-25 game between Adelaide Strikers and Perth Scorchers. Incidentally, both Ashwin and Overton will be playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.

Central Contract Opt-Outs Are Straining Player Availability For New Zealand, Says Tim Southee

The rising trend of Kiwi cricketers forgoing national contracts to potentially ply their trade in T20 leagues has adversely impacted player availability for New Zealand, skipper Tim Southee admitted on Sunday. The likes former captain Kane Williamson, Devon Conway and Finn Allen this year joined a long list of players who have opted for a casual contract instead of New Zealand Cricket's central contract in order to pursue opportunities within franchise cricket. "NZC is working with the players and they are trying to come up with a solution that's best suited for the players and New Zealand cricket as a whole," Southee said on the eve of New Zealand's one-off Test against Afghanistan.

Devon Conway, Finn Allen Opt Out Of New Zealand Cricket Contract, Focus On Franchise Cricket

Top-order batters Devon Conway and Finn Allen on Thursday turned down New Zealand central contracts to pursue a career in franchise cricket, announced the country's cricket board. However, Conway will be available for New Zealand's international assignments through a casual agreement similar to the one Kane Williamson signed with NZC recently. It means that Conway will play international matches unless they do not overlap his franchise commitments. “Firstly, I'd like to thank New Zealand Cricket for their support through this process,” Conway said in a video posted by Blackcaps on 'X'.

New Zealand's Conway opts for casual contract

New Zealand opener Devon Conway has opted for a casual rather than central contract for the upcoming 2024-2025 season, allowing the lefthander the flexibility to play in South Africa's SA20 league next January.

Steve Smith Shines As Washington Freedom Clinch Major League Cricket 2024 Title

In a spectacular display of power hitting and strategic bowling, Washington Freedom etched their name on the Major League Cricket (MLC) 2024 trophy with a massive 96-run victory over the San Francisco Unicorns in the championship final at Grand Prairie Stadium. Led by a stellar performance from Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell, Freedom set an imposing target of 208, which proved too steep for the Unicorns to chase in the match on Sunday. In need of a strong start, the Unicorns were immediately on the back foot.
