French Open 2023: Jessica Pegula through to third round as Camila Giorgi forced to retire with injury
Third seed Jessica Pegula cruised into the third round of the French Open after Camila Giorgi retired injured from their clash on Philippe-Chatrier. The American was the epitome of calm as she quickly claimed a double-break and took the first set 6-2, but Giorgi was forced to withdraw with an unspecified injury problem before the second set could start. Ad It was a sad end to the Italian’s campaign as Pegula progressed to the next round, where she will meet Camila Osorio or 28th seed Elise Mertens.
