Belarus' Victoria Azarenka did «nothing wrong» by not shaking hands with her Ukrainian opponent Elina Svitolina after their fourth-round match at Wimbledon, says Laura Robson. Azarenka was booed off Court 1 by those who attended the thriller, which Svitolina won 2-6 6-4 7-6(9), after she waved towards Svitolina near the net rather than offer a handshake. Ad Svitolina has previously publicly stated that she will not shake hands with a Russian or Belarusian player because of the war in Ukraine which began in February 2022.
LONDON :Women's top seed Iga Swiatek survived a huge scare before reaching the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the first time and was joined by Ukraine's Elina Svitolina who also came through an epic fourth-round scrap on Sunday.

Iga Swiatek saved two match points while Elina Svitolina triumphed in a stormy, politically-charged duel with Victoria Azarenka to set up a Wimbledon quarter-final showdown on Sunday as Novak Djokovic was defeated by a night-time curfew. World number one Swiatek beat Olympic champion Belinda Bencic 6-7 (4/7), 7-6 (7/2), 6-3 on Centre Court. Over on Court One, Ukraine's Svitolina came from a set and break down to defeat Belarusian rival Azarenka 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 (11/9).
