BCCI Introduces Prize Money For Players In All Junior And Women Events

In a significant development, the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) on Monday introduced prize money for player-of-the-match and player-of-the-tournament award winners in all women's and junior cricket competitions at domestic level. In a post on social media, BCCI secretary Jay Shah Shah announced that in men's cricket, prize money will be awarded for player of the match in Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali tournaments. "We are introducing prize money for the Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament in all Women's and Junior Cricket tournaments under our Domestic Cricket Programme," Shah tweeted.

Indian pacer Umran Malik said that he feels better after recovering from dengue and is focused on preparing for the Duleep Trophy, which will start from September 5 onwards. Umran has finally recovered from the disease and has joined the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, where he is going to prepare for the upcoming domestic season. Speaking to ANI, Umran said, "I am feeling better and now I am fully focused on the preparation of the Duleep trophy at NCA. I hope, I will be doing good in this season for my team."

Sai Sudharshan Joins Surrey, To Play Two County Matches

India batter B Sai Sudharsan will play for Surrey in their next two English County Championship matches, the club announced on Wednesday. Sudharsan will start his brief county stint on Thursday with a match against Lancashire at the Oval, and then will play against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge next week. After that, the Tamil Nadu batter will return to India to participate in the Duleep Trophy, beginning on September 5 at Bengaluru and Anantapur. Sudharsan is part of Team C which will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Senior speedster Mohammed Shami, who is undergoing rehabilitation after an ankle surgery, is likely to make a comeback to competitive cricket for his domestic side Bengal in the Ranji Trophy, and a potential international appearance later in one of the Test matches against New Zealand. It is understood that Shami will play either one or both of Bengal's opening away Ranji match against UP on October 11 and the next one in Kolkata against Bihar on October 18. Since there will be only a two-day gap between both the games it is unlikely that he will play both.

With the Indian team's next assignment scheduled in late Septemeber, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced the four squads for the upcoming Duleep Trophy tournament, which will be played between September 5 and 24 in Anantapur. Top stars, minus Virat Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma, pacer Jasprit Bumrah and veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, will feature in the first round of the tournament.
