More than ever, players are expected to play important roles immediately upon entering the league. That will be the case for first-round and even later-round picks across all 32 teams. There will be some players needed more than others due to team needs and roster makeup, though.
Until the 2025 season begins, we won’t truly know how much better (or worse) NFL teams have gotten over the past few months. But with the draft and early free agency period in the books, we have a strong foundation to project their outlooks.

The 2025 NFL draft is an anomaly. For the first time since the NFL merger, not a single pick in the first round has been traded. Of course, there's still time for that to change. But it's more likely we will see only the inevitable first-round trades once teams are officially on the clock on April 24.
In last year's quarterback projection ahead of the 2024 draft, I quoted ESPN Radio's «Unsportsmanlike» host Evan Cohen, who said NFL teams should draft a quarterback when they want one so they will never need one. A corollary to this idea is that teams should avoid drafting a quarterback they do not want — even if they need one.
