Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra and cricketer Dinesh Karthik are among the sportspersons celebrating the event from February 21-27, according to the UK High Commission. It said a series of on-and off-the-field interactions will highlight the shared love of sport and the opportunities it can create for people across both nations.

Cricketer Dinesh Karthik lauded Team India captain Rohit Sharma for some of his decisions that proved key in India's 44-run series-clinching win over West Indies in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. After posting 237/9, India bowled out West Indies for 193, to seal victory and take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. While Prasidh Krishna was the pick of the Indian bowlers with impressive figures of 4/12, Deepak Hooda and Washington Sundar also played key roles by bagging a wicket each at crucial junctures during the game. Hooda removed the well-set Shamarh Brooks while Sundar bagged the wicket of Odean Smith to end Windies' resistance.

Legendary singer and music composer Lata Mangeshkar died on Sunday at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, aged 92. Former India skipper Virat Kohli and the cricketing fraternity mourned the death of Lata Mangeshkar, who was regarded as the "Nightingale of India", on social media. "Deeply saddened to hear about the demise of Lata ji. Her melodious songs touched millions of people around the world. Thank you for all the music and the memories. My deepest condolences to the family & the loved ones," Virat Kohli wrote on Twitter.

With less than a week to go for the India vs West Indies ODI series which will also mark the beginning of Rohit Sharma's journey as a full-time captain in limited-overs cricket, there is still no clarity on who will take over India's Test mantle after Virat Kohli decided to step down as skipper last month. Sharing his thoughts on the subject, veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik said he can't comment on the reasons behind Kohli's unexpected decision to quit as Test captain but he recalled MS Dhoni “clearly saying” it is “hard” to have split captaincy in Indian cricket. "I remember MS Dhoni saying very clearly that India as a cricketing nation is very hard to have split captaincy,” Karthik told news agency ANI.
