Coco Gauff isn't exactly in prime form as she prepares to becomes the first woman to win consecutive U.S. Open titles since Serena Williams won three straight from 2012-14.
Canada's Leylah Fernandez overcame 20 aces and saved two match points before beating fourth seed Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan 3-6, 7-6 (3), 6-4 in second-round action Thursday at the Cincinnati Open.
It will be an all-American final in women's singles at the National Bank Open.
