CAPE TOWN : India seamer Jasprit Bumrah took 6-61 as the tourists bowled South Africa out in their second innings for 176 on the stroke of lunch on the second day of the second and final test at Newlands on Thursday and face a victory target of 79.
The Indian camp remained in a jubilant mood despite the epic batting collapse that saw them going from 153/4 to 153 all-out on Day 1 of the second Test against South Africa. After bowling out the Proteas for just 55 runs in the first innings, India managed to bag 3 wickets for 62 runs by the time stumps were called. Soon after India got the third wicket in the second innings, the duo of Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill were spotted dancing in the middle, celebrating the team's dominance.
Following a chaotic first day of the second Test between India and South Africa which saw a total of 23 wickets falling, South African skipper Dean Elgar refused to label the pitch as bad but said that it is challenging instead. Aiden Markram and David Bedingham took South Africa to 62/3 at Stumps on dramatic day one of the second Test match in Cape Town on Wednesday. At the time of stumps, South Africa's score read 62/3 - trail by 36 runs - with Markram (36) and Bedingham (7) unbeaten at the crease.
The second Test between India and South Africa is nearing its conclusion within the first two days. A total of 23 wickets fell on the first day itself, prompting the fans and pundits of the game to contemplate if the Newlands pitch had demons in it that prompted such a batting collapse. Mohammed Siraj, who took 6 wickets in the first innings, addressed media after the end of play on Day 1, and was understandably asked about his assessment of the pitch. The India pacer, however, said that he didn't think it was a 55-all-out pitch when he took a look at it ahead of the start of play in Cape Town on Wednesday.

During an action-packed day one of second Test between India and South Africa on day one, a total of 23 wickets fell, which is the second highest number of wickets falling on day one of a Test. On the first day at Cape Town, South Africa elected to bat first but was dismissed within a single session. Next up, India started out way better, but a late batting collapse saw them get all out as well. Later in their third innings, the Proteas lost three wickets. The most wickets during the first day of a Test was during an Australia versus England Test back in 1902, when 25 wickets fell on the first day itself.
Indian cricket team, led by the fiery pace bowling of Mohammed Siraj, achieved a historic high on Day 1 of the second Test against South Africa in Cape Town. Thanks to Mohammed Siraj's 6/15, India bundled out South Africa for just 55 inside one session. In a straight spell of nine overs, Siraj picked a career-best 6 for 15 as the South African batters made a beeline back to the dug-out, unable to counter the disconcerting bounce and the movement, both inward and outward, that he extracted off the surface.
