Rohit Sharma In, Faf Du Plessis Out: List Of Players IPL Teams Are Likely To Retain

The countdown has begun for the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises to start working on their release and retention list. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the retention rules on Saturday, paving the way for the franchises to finalise the list of players they wish to keep ahead of the mega auction. The board has allowed franchises to retain a maximum of 6 players, either through direct retention or Right-To-Match card. However, with retention cost increased by the BCCI, striking the perfect balance between keep players and buying them through RTM in the auction, will be key to success.

Rachin Ravindra Gives New Zealand Fighting Chance In Sri Lanka Test

Rookie left-hander Rachin Ravindra's unbeaten 91 gave New Zealand a slender chance for victory against Sri Lanka, with the tourists needing another 68 runs with two wickets in hand after day four of the first Test on Sunday. Set a target of 275, New Zealand were 207-8 at stumps with spinner Ajaz Patel, on nought, to resume with Ravindra on Monday. Ramesh Mendis and Prabath Jayasuriya picked up three wickets each on a sharply turning pitch in Galle, where the Black Caps have lost all four of their previous Test encounters. Ravindra's knock was the highest score by a New Zealander at the ground, eclipsing Ross Taylor's 89 in 2019.

CSK's IPL 2025 Retention List: Gaikwad, Jadeja, Pathirana In, Says Report. No Place For...

The clock is ticking as the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises look to finalise their retention shortlist for the forthcoming mega auction. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly yet to convey the number of retentions a franchise can make ahead of the auction. The entire cricketing fraternity awaits BCCI's call on the retention policy, but Chennai Super Kings are arguably more desperate to understand the retention guidelines than any other franchise, as the board's policy could decide whether the legendary MS Dhoni plays another season or not.
