Wimbledon drops ban on Russians, lets them play as neutrals

LONDON: Russian and Belarusian players will be able to compete at Wimbledon as neutral athletes after the All England Club on Friday reversed its ban from last year. The players must sign declarations of neutrality and comply with “appropriate conditions,” including not expressing support for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. “This was an incredibly difficult decision, not taken lightly or without a great deal of consideration for those who will be impacted,” All England Club chairman Ian Hewitt said in a statement.

Now the Miami Open’s No. 4 seed is one victory from a fresh American title, beating fellow Russian Karen Khachanov 7-6 (5), 3-6, 6-3 in the semifinals Friday, the same day Wimbledon announced Russians will be allowed back — with conditions.

Daniil Medvedev opens up about 'tantrums' after latest Miami Open victory - 'Not a good look'

Daniil Medvedev has shared some thoughts about his «tantrums» and the fact that they are «not a good look» after his latest victory at the Miami Open over Christopher Eubanks as he reached the semi-finals. 'He can go up, up and up' - Daniil Medvedev says Christopher Eubanks' Miami Open run shows depth of men's tennis

Christopher Eubanks can climb high in the ATP rankings if he finds consistency on the back of an outstanding Miami Open run, says Daniil Medvedev, while the Russian believes his last-eight opponent showed any player in the top 300 can go deep in a big tournament. Eubanks broke into the top 100 for the first time by coming through qualifying to reach a maiden ATP 1000 quarter-final on home soil, where he lost 6-3 7-5 to fourth seed Medvedev. Ad The 26-year-old earned main-draw wins over Denis Kudla, Borna Coric, Gregoire Barrere and Adrian Mannarino to rise 34 places in the rankings up to No.

Daniil Medvedev beats Roberto Carballes Baena at Miami Open, Frances Tiafoe wins 'brutal' clash, Cameron Norrie out

Daniil Medvedev bounced back from his Indian Wells final defeat to Carlos Alcaraz with a dominant 6-1 6-2 victory over Roberto Carballes Baena to advance in the Miami Open. Daniil Medvedev won't change deep positioning after Carlos Alcaraz loss in Indian Wells final
