SUZUKA, Japan :World champion Max Verstappen got back to winning ways on Sunday with a third straight pole-to-flag victory at the Japanese Formula One Grand Prix, leading team mate Sergio Perez across the line for a Red Bull 1-2 at Suzuka.
Triple world champion Max Verstappen went fastest in Saturday's final practice for the Japanese Grand Prix ahead of Red Bull team-mate Sergio Perez. Verstappen, who failed to finish the race in Australia a fortnight ago, blazed round the Suzuka track in dry conditions in 1min 29.563sec -- 0.269sec quicker than Perez. All the drivers went out after showers spoiled Friday's second practice and saw just five record timed laps. George Russell was third-fastest with a time of 1min 29.918, ahead of Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton.
Max Verstappen stormed to pole position at the Japanese Grand Prix as his dominance in qualifying continued.
SUZUKA, Japan : Red Bull were once again fastest in the Japanese Grand Prix on Saturday, with Formula One championship leader Max Verstappen topping the charts ahead of team mate Sergio Perez and George Russell of Mercedes in the final session before qualifying.
McLaren's Oscar Piastri went fastest on Friday in a second practice for the Japanese Grand Prix that was badly affected by rain at Suzuka. Australian Piastri, who finished third at last year's race, clocked 1min 34.725sec in on-off showers to finish 0.501sec clear of Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton. Triple world champion Max Verstappen and team-mate Sergio Perez did not come out for second practice. Verstappen led Perez for a Red Bull one-two in first practice.
