The Lionesses have paved history for women’s football, inspiring a whole new generation of little girls to take up the sport. And during Sunday night’s final at the Euros, Wembley Stadium was packed out with fans. 80,000 men, women and children clapped and cheered and chanted in the stands, along with millions of engrossed viewers at home. But despite the fact their victory may have brought women’s football to the forefront, female footballers are still not on an equal playing field to their male counterparts.
