The 19-year-old world No. 40 broke into the top 100 at the start of this year and recorded his first-ever Grand Slam win when beating Denis Shapovalov in the opening round at Roland-Garros.
Teenager Holger Rune became the first Danish man to reach the French Open quarter-finals on Monday when he shocked world number four and 2021 runner-up Stefanos Tsitsipas. Rune, just 19 and ranked 40, swept to a memorable 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win on the back of 54 winners and will face Norway's eighth seed Casper Ruud for a place in the semi-finals. The last Danish man to reach the last-eight in any Slam was Jan Leschly at the 1967 US Championships.
Casper Ruud became the first Norwegian man to reach the French Open quarter-finals on Monday with a four-set win against Poland's Hubert Hurkacz. The 23-year-old held off a brief Hurkacz fightback to win 6-2, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 and will face either fellow Scandinavian youngster Holger Rune of Denmark or fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas on Wednesday. Ruud is into his first ever Grand Slam quarter-final as he continues an impressive season which has seen him win two clay-court titles.
