Carlos Alcaraz cumple hoy 19 años. A una edad en la que muchos no saben aún qué quieren ser en la vida, él lo tiene clarísimo. Sus récords de precocidad anunciaban algo grande, pero lo que apuntó en 2021 (primer título ATP en Umag, cuartos de final en el US Open con victoria sobre Stefanos Tsitsipas, maestro NextGen…) lo ha superado a una velocidad endiablada en 2022. Si en la pasada edición del Madrid Open cayó por 6-1 y 6-2 ante Rafa Nadal la primera vez que se enfrentó a su ídolo (un 5 de mayo), en el pasado Indian Wells tuvo contra las cuerdas al campeón de 21 Grand Slams en semifinales.

Rafael Nadal enjoyed a winning return after a six-week injury break, opening his Madrid campaign with a 6-1, 7-6(7/4) success over Serbia's Miomir Kecmanovic on Wednesday. The Spanish star had been sidelined with a rib injury since his Indian Wells final defeat in March but showed little sign of rust as he skipped into the third round. Nadal said his preparation for the tournament was "non-existent" due to his rib problem limiting his ability to train and was thrilled by how well he played against one of the most in-form players of the season.
