Emma Raducanu has a tough opening match on her return to Wimbledon as she will face recent Surbiton and Gaiba champion, and strong grass-courter, Alison van Uytvanck. The 19-year-old made her Grand Slam debut at the All England Club a year ago as the 338th-ranked wildcard and returns as the 10th seed and US Open champion. Raducanu is in the opposite half of the draw to world No 1 Iga Swiatek and 23-time Major champion Serena Williams so could only face them in the final, but has this year's Australian Open runner-up Danielle Collins and in-form world No 3 Ons Jabeur in her quarter.
The Eastbourne International, considered a warm-up tournament for Wimbledon, is set to get underway this weekend.
Serena Williams and Ons Jabeur will face Marie Bouzkova and Sara Sorribes Tormo in their opening encounter at the Eastbourne International women’s doubles.
Serena Williams will team up with world No. 4 Ons Jabeur at the Rothesay International Eastbourne as she continues her Wimbledon preparation. The 28-time major champion will make her competitive return after almost a year out with an injury she sustained in the first round at Wimbledon last year.
Iga Swiatek remains firmly at the head of the new WTA rankings released on Monday, over 4000 points ahead of number two Anett Kontaveit. The 21-year-old Pole has held the top spot since the surprise retirement of Australian Ashleigh Barty at the end of March. The only change in the Top 20 sees Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, beaten in Sunday's final at 's-Hertogenbosch by the Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova, take fifth place from Maria Sakkari.
Poland's Iga Swiatek extended her lead at the top of the WTA rankings released on Monday after her French Open triumph in Paris over American Coco Gauff, who moves closer to the Top 10.
Poland's Iga Swiatek extended her lead at the top of the WTA rankings released on Monday after her French Open triumph in Paris over American Coco Gauff, who moves closer to the Top 10. The 21-year-old Polish star took the world number one ranking after Australian Ashleigh Barty retired early in April. And after claiming her 35th successive victory in Roland Garros, she now has over 4,300 points advance on new world number two Anett Kontaveit of Estonia. Kontaveit climbed three spots despite her first round exit in Paris, benefiting from French Open title-holder Barbora Krejcikova's early upset.
