All eyes of the Indian cricket team and the Pakistan cricket team fans are focused on just one match now at the ODI Cricket World Cup 2023. The India vs Pakistan match is definitely one match that holds extra significance for the cricket. Winning this match gives the fans the bragging rights. It's similar this time too. India will face Pakistan in a Cricket World Cup match in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
JEDDAH: Australian Marc Leishman, of team Ripper GC, leads the field by a single shot after the first round of LIV Golf Jeddah, presented by ROSHN, thanks to a bogey-free, five-under-par round of 65 in challenging, windy conditions at the Royal Greens Golf and Country Club on Friday. His closest challengers at the top of the leaderboard are Dustin Johnson (of 4Aces GC), Harold Varner III (RangeGoats GC), and Brooks Koepka (Smash GC), all on four-under. Among the season’s leading points scorers, the top two, Cameron Smith (Ripper GC) and Talor Gooch (RangeGoats GC), carded even-par opening rounds of 70, while third-place Bryson DeChambeau (Crushers GC) hit a one-under par 69, keeping all three firmly in contention for the individual players’ championship. In the team standings, Crushers GC, who sit second in the season rankings, and Ripper GC (seventh) lead the field in Jeddah on six-under par, one shot ahead of season-points leaders 4Aces GC and sixth-place Fireballs GC. “It was pretty tough,” Leishman said of his round and the conditions on the course. “A fair bit of wind, and it was nice to be finding the middle of the face.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Zaka Ashraf on Friday gave a pep talk to the Pakistan cricket team ahead of its much-anticipated World Cup match against arch-rivals India on Saturday. Ashraf motivated the players in a meeting which was also attended by the support staff, including coach Grant Bradburn, PCB's director of cricket Mickey Arthur and captain Babar Azam among others. Pakistan, who are touring India for the first time since 2016, are set to play their biggest match of the World Cup against the home team at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
Babar Azam does not believe that the outcome of the much-anticipated India-Pakistan clash in World Cup on Saturday will have an impact on his captaincy. The captains of both the teams feel pressure of the big-game, especially when losing isn't an option for fans from both sides of the border. Babar, though, looked unperturbed. "I never worry, that because of this match I will lose my captaincy. Whatever God has written for me - I will get. I will get what I deserve. I didn't get the captaincy because of one match and I will not lose it because of one match," Babar, who certainly wasn't amused with the question, replied with an air of disdain.
Indian cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma said that there is "99 per cent change" of Shubman Gill playing against Pakistan in the much-anticipated Cricket World Cup 2023 clash. Gill missed the first two matches of the Cricket World Cup 2023 against Australia and Afghanistan due to illness as he was reportedly suffering from dengue. However, he travelled to Ahmedabad with the team and he even took part in a batting practice session on Thursday. This will be the Cricket World Cup debut for Gill who has impressed across all three formats in the past year.
Pakistan cricket team legend Shoaib Akhtar faced massive trolling on social media following his post on the Cricket World Cup 2023 match between India and Pakistan in Ahmedabad on Saturday. The former fast bowler posted a picture of himself from his playing days along with the caption - "History shall repeat itself tomorrow". The Indian cricket team fans were quick to remind Akhtar about India's impressive record against Pakistan when it comes to the Cricket World Cup. India and Pakistan have faced each other 7 times in total and India have won all 7 matches. Shoaib then posted a picture of himself dismissing Sachin Tendulkar during a Test match but as the trolling continued, Akhtar decided to delete the post.
