"Problem Lies In Senior Players": Ex-India Selector's Take On WTC Final Loss

With India losing World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at The Oval in London, former India team selector Sarandeep Singh said there "was some slack in captaincy" and that Ravichandran Ashwin should have been part of the playing XI. India lost the ICC World Test Championship title for the second time after reaching the finals. Australia defeated India by 209 runs at The Oval on June 11 and made history by becoming the first-ever team to clinch all major ICC trophies.

"Understand BCCI's Position": PCB Chief On Need For Asia Cup Hybrid Model

Ending months of speculation around Asia Cup, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Thursday announced that the tournament will be staged in a hybrid model with four games in Pakistan and nine in Sri Lanka from August 31 to September 17. The deadlock over the staging of the 50-over tournament was broken last week when the Jay Shah-led ACC accepted Pakistan Cricket Board's hybrid model of conducting four non-India games in Pakistan. The hybrid model was proposed as the BCCI had made it clear that it won't send its team to Pakistan due to the longstanding geo-political tensions between the two countries.

"Only He And MS Dhoni...": Sourav Ganguly Reasons Rohit Sharma's Selection As India Captain After Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli was one the most successful captains that India had across formats. However, his reign didn't end well. He stepped down from T20I captaincy with the conclusion of India's 2021 T20 World Cup campaign. After that, he was removed as ODI captain of the side. A few months later, Kohli stepped down as Test skipper of India. Rohit Sharma was the man who was chosen the take up the role across formats after Kohli. The then BCCI president and former India captain Sourav Ganguly has reasoned the appointment of Rohit in a recent interview.

"Winning IPL More Difficult Than World Cup": Sourav Ganguly Makes Debate-Stirring Comparison

Questions on Rohit Sharma's captaincy are bound to rise, with the India skipper failing to deliver in the World Test Championship final, having previously failed to help India bag the trophy in the T20 World Cup 2022. As the cricketing world questions whether Rohit is the right man to lead India, especially with the view of succeeding in ICC events, Sourav Ganguly has lent his support to the Hitman. Ganguly has no doubts that Rohit can succeed as India skipper, as he has helped Mumbai Indians bag the Indian Premier League title five times. For Dada, winning the IPL is more difficult than winning a World Cup.

Pakistan May Pull Out Of Asia Cup After 'Hybrid Model' Is Rejected: Report

Left with no option after Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan backed out of their proposed 'Hybrid Model', hosts Pakistan may pull out of the Asia Cup in September. According to the 'Hybrid Model' proposed by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Najam Sethi, Pakistan were to conduct 3 to 4 games of the Asia Cup in their country, while the rest of the matches involving India could be held at a neutral venue. The idea was floated after India refused to travel to Pakistan because of security concerns. However, it has become clear now that Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan have all backed the BCCI's push for moving the tournament out of Pakistan.
