It has become a regular occurrence at Grand Slams to see players competing deep into the night, sometimes into the early hours of the morning. At last year’s US Open, Carlos Alcaraz didn’t finish his quarter-final against Marin Cilic until 2:23am local time, and at the Australian Open earlier this season Andy Murray didn’t start his second-round match against Thanasi Kokkinakis until after 10pm — and finally finished it at 4.05am. For Nick Kyrgios, Matteo Berrettini and Milos Raonic, Wimbledon has been the closest they have got to winning a Grand Slam singles title. Kyrgios made the final last summer, losing to Novak Djokovic in four sets. Berrettini was beaten by the same opponent, and over the same number of sets, the previous year.

Andy Murray's brother and uncle have expressed their anger over the treatment of the two-time Wimbledon champion after he was left off an official poster of past and present greats.
Andy Murray insists he will still be able to compete against the very best at Wimbledon despite his gruelling early summer winning streak coming to an end at Queen's. The Scot was comfortably beaten 6-3 6-1 by Australian world No.18 Alex De Minaur at the LTA's cinch Championships, halting his 10-match unbeaten run that saw him win both the LTA's Lexus Surbiton Trophy and Rothesay Open Nottingham over the past fortnight. Ad The defeat also likely spells an end to any hope of Murray receiving a seeding for Wimbledon, meaning a tough draw likely awaits the two-time champion at SW19, but the 36-year-old is confident he will be ready for whatever comes his way.
Andy Murray suffered a major blow to his Wimbledon hopes after falling to a first-round defeat at the cinch Championships.
Carlos Alcaraz survived a scare against lucky loser Arthur Rinderknech at Queen's Club on Tuesday as Andy Murray's winning streak on the grass was ended by Alex de Minaur. Alcaraz was playing only his seventh match on grass and his first outside of Wimbledon as he prepares for the third Grand Slam tournament of the season next month. Rinderknech, ranked 83 in the world, only found out he was playing the Spaniard hours before the match after Frenchman Arthur Fils, Alcaraz's scheduled opponent, withdrew from the tournament.
