The batter has failed to make it count in the red-ball format in the past one and a half year or so. It was in December 2022 when Babar scored 161 against New Zealand in a Test and since then, he has struggled to get runs under his belt. Babar has scored only 320 runs in his last 15 innings. His poor performance in the format has seen the player getting a lot of flak. Former Pakistan batter Mohammad Wasim has opened up on the challenges he faced as chief selector of the team, including dealing with former all-format captain Babar Azam. Wasim, who served as head coach of the Pakistan men's cricket team from December 2020 to December 2022, admitted that Babar was "very stubborn" and got upset whenever the selection committee made changes to the squad. However, Wasim revealed, more often than not, he had to step in to make Babar accept the changes.

Pakistan are all set to face Bangladesh in the upcoming two-match Test series, with the first match being played from Wednesday in Rawalpindi. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday announced their playing eleven for their first Test match against Bangladesh. The two-match Test series will kick off on August 21 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The two Tests against Bangladesh will mark the first assignment of Jason Gillespie as Pakistan's Test coach. The second Test of the two-match series is set to be played from August 30 to September 3 in Karachi.

PCB Yet To Issue NOCs To Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Says 'Not Comfortable'

Pakistan captain Babar Azam, wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan and pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi are yet to get No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the nation's Cricket Board (PCB) to participate in the Global T20 Canada league. The PCB on Tuesday issued NOCs to 12 players for different leagues but the trio, who are in the top bracket of central contracts, is still waiting for clearance. "The PCB is not comfortable with the status of the Global League and has sought some information from the organisers and ICC, which is why the issuance of NOCs has been delayed," a PCB official said.

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam expressed his intention to deliver a quality performance with the team at the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup in West Indies and USA which will start from June 1 this year. Taking to Instagram, Babar posed with his teammates, wicketkeeper-batter Mohammed Rizwan and pacers Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah in the national side's new jersey for the marquee tournament. PCB Likely To Announce 18-Player Squad For Pakistan's T20I Series Against New Zealand In Coming Days

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to announce the Men in Green squad in a couple of days for their upcoming home T20I series against New Zealand which will be held later in the month according to Geo News. The Pakistan men's cricket team are currently taking part in the fitness camp being conducted by trainers from the Pakistan Army in Kakul. Skipper Babar Azam and Pakistan's chief selectors are consulting to finalise the list of players who will feature in the five-match T20I series. According to Geo News sources, an 18-player squad will be announced for the series.
