Weeks after Holger Rune attracted the ire of Italian fans in his win over local favourite Fabio Fognini in Rome, the Dane will again be cast in the role of villain as he prepares to take on veteran Frenchman Gael Monfils at the French Open.
Lloyd Harris, South Africa's lone representative in the men's singles at the French Open in Paris, has been knocked out of the tournament in the first round.
It was a captivating first day of action at the 2023 French Open, and Day 2 has just as much in store. Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz, British No. 1 Cameron Norrie and home hope Caroline Garcia are among those taking to the red dirt on Monday, with ambitions of making a deep run at the second Grand Slam of the year.
Unseeded Nicolas Jarry raced past Grigor Dimitrov to win the Geneva Open final 7-6 (1), 6-1 on Saturday and is poised to rise to his best ranking in a career that was stalled by a doping case.
