Test wicketkeeper Alex Carey hit a superb century against Queensland as South Australia completed the highest successful fourth-innings chase in a Sheffield Shield final to end a 29-year title drought on Saturday. Needing 270 runs at Karen Rolton Oval in Adelaide, South Australia were in early trouble on day four at 28-3 before Carey combined with Jason Sangha in a match-winning 202-run partnership. Carey, who has been in strong batting form this season, fell for 105 with the result a formality despite South Australia losing three late wickets.
Senior batter Virat Kohli added another feather to his highly illustrious cap as he became India's leading run-scorer in the ICC Champions Trophy history during the semi-final clash against Australia at Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday. Kohli surpassed former India opener Shikhar Dhawan's tally of 701 runs in 10 games from 2013 to 2017. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly is the third-highest scorer for India in the tournament with 665 runs in 13 matches from 1998 to 2004. Virat Kohli slammed a sensational half-century while Hardik Pandya produced late fireworks as India defeat Australia by four wickets to reach the Champions Trophy 2025 final in Dubai on Tuesday. Chasing 265, Kohli was once again the top performer with 84 but it needed a cameo from Hardik to clinch the win for India. Hardik slammed 28 runs off 24 deliveries with the help of one four and three massive sixes. The match went down to the wire with India needing 27 runs to win from 24 balls but Hardik was able to help the cause massively with two sixes off Adam Zampa. The sixes sent the crowd into frenzy and the reaction of Virat in the Indian dressing room has gone viral on social media.
