Ajit Agarkar Appears For BCCI Chief Selector's Interview, Set To Be Chairman: Report

Former India pacer Ajit Agarkar's appointment as chairman of senior selection committee seems to be a mere formality after he appeared for a virtual interview on Tuesday with Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) headed by Ashok Malhotra. It is understood that BCCI wants to get done with formality of appointment as Agarkar, after taking over, will chair the selection committee meeting for the T20I squad that will play five games in the West Indies. Ajit Agarkar Quits Delhi Capitals After Throwing His Hat In Selection Ring: Report

Ajit Agarkar, who is the frontrunner for the Indian chief selector's job, on Thursday relinquished his assistant coach's post in IPL franchise Delhi Capitals. With Agarkar's name in the reckoning, the BCCI might have to increase the annual remuneration of Rs 1 crore offered to the chairman of selectors and Rs 90 lakh for the other members of the panel. Agarkar, as an assistant coach with DC and as a commentator, earns way more than current annual package of chief selector and hence, the BCCI will have to review the existing pay structure.

Ricky Ponting's Future In Focus As Delhi Capitals Eye Leaner Coaching Staff Post IPL 2023: Report

Delhi Capitals are likely to have a much leaner coaching staff next season with head coach Ricky Ponting's future set to be examined at the end of the season. As far as David Warner is concerned, he has been the team's highest run getter and best performer and unless he himself wants to concentrate on batting alone, he will finish the season as skipper. DC have already lost five games on the trot in the ongoing IPL and if they lose to Punjab Kings on Thursday, they will be the first team to be out of play-off contention with half a dozen defeats.
