"Had They Picked Ajinkya Rahane...": Ambati Rayudu On 2019 World Cup Snub Fiasco - Report

The 2019 ODI World Cup saw the Board of Control for Cricket in India selection committee draw plenty of criticism after Ambati Rayudu was snubbed for a spot in the team, in favour of '3D player' Vijay Shankar. Rayudu's reaction on social media to the news added fuel to the fire, and the veteran batter never played for India again. After bringing an end to his cricketing career, Rayudu has finally opened up on the controversy, confirming that he had nothing personal against Shankar but couldn't understand the logic behind his selection as he was a player who batted at No. 6 or No. 7 position, and not No. 4.

He went for the shot but only found a thick edge towards the slip, Steve Smith dived low to his right to take a stunning catch.

Indian cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma made it clear that the batter were not able to perform well at The Oval and they failed to show promise at the World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia on Sunday. India had eight batters with scores between 40 and 49 but most of them were not able to convert it into a big innings. It proved to be costly for the Rohit-led side as they were beaten comprehensively in the summit clash. The India skipper added that the bowlers did have plans against Steve Smith and Travis Head but there did not work and that proved to be a turning point.
