South Africa vs Netherlands, 2nd ODI. Live Updates:South Africa eye early wickets after skipper Temba Bavuma won the toss and opted to bowl first against Netherlands in the second ODI at Willowmoore Park, Benoni on Friday. Two end-of-season ODI matches between South Africa and the Netherlands would not normally attract much attention -- but the games are crucial for the Proteas. The hosts have yet to qualify for the Cricket World Cup in India in October and November. They need to win both World Cup Super League matches to have a realistic chance of booking their place in world cricket's showpiece. Even with two wins, there is still an outside chance of being pipped by Ireland, although they will have to pull off a 3-0 upset series win against Bangladesh in May. (LIVE SCORECARD)
Veteran India seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar will lead Sunrisers Hyderabad in their IPL opener as designated skipper Aiden Markram is on national duty with South Africa. The season will start on Friday with defending champions Gujarat Titans taking on three-time winners Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad. Sunrisers Hyderabad play their opening match against Rajasthan Royals in Hyderabad on Sunday. Markram is in South Africa for the two-match ODI series against Netherlands and will arrive in India only on April 3. The series is vital for South Africa's direct qualification for the ODI World Cup, to be played in India later this year.
Sunrisers Hyderabad are all set to begin to their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 campaign against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday. Led by new skipper and South Africa batter Aiden Markram, SRH will be coached by West Indies legend Brian Lara. Having won the title in 2016, SRH's biggest issue has been their captaincy, with Australian opener David Warner and charismatic New Zealand batter Kane Williamson having to pay the price for the team's debacle in the last two editions.
Romario Shepherd's late batting assault and a five-wicket haul by Alzarri Joseph took the West Indies to a series-clinching seven-run win against South Africa in the third Twenty20 international at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Tuesday.
South Africa vs West Indies, 3rd T20I, Live Updates:South Africa will be going up against West Indies in the third and final T20I of the three-match series, at the Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg on Tuesday. Both the teams got engaged into a high-scoring battle on Sunday, where the visitors posted a total of 258/5 in 20 overs. In return, the Proteas chased down the target with seven balls to spare and recorded the highest ever run chase in the shortest format. The three match series is now levelled at 1-1 and third match will act as the series decider. (Live Scorecard)
Sunrisers Hyderabad would be banking on the leadership skills of their new skipper, South African Aiden Markram, and the cricketing acumen of coach Brian Lara to break the jinx of finishing in the lower rung over the last couple of editions, when the latest IPL season commences on March 31. Markram, who led Sunrisers Eastern Cape to the inaugural SA20 title, is the third captaincy change in three years for the Hyderabad franchise, and will have a big job at hand to guide the side to success after it finished last in 2021 and eighth among 10 teams last year.
