Los Angeles Knight Riders (LAKR) have signed Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) stars players Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Lockie Ferguson, and Jason Roy for the inaugural season of the MLC, as per ESPNcricinfo. Apart from them, Australian spinner Adam Zampa, New Zealand batter Martin Guptill, and South African batter Rilee Rossouw have also been signed by LAKR. The LAKR squad also consists of Indian player Unmukt Chand, USA's Jaskaran Malhotra, and Ali Khan. Malhotra is known for hitting six sixes in an over in international cricket.
The USA Cricket (USAC) on Wednesday asserted that the T20 World Cup 2024 will not be taken away from them due to concerns around lack of proper cricketing infrastructure in the nation, saying a successful conduct of the Major League Cricket (MLC) will remove all the doubts. It has been reported that the International Cricket Council (ICC) might shift the premier tournament, scheduled to be hosted jointly by the USA and the West Indies, to England next year.
Australian wicketkeeper Matthew Wade, Moises Henriques and Adam Zampa have become the latest Australia players who are set to feature in the inaugural edition of the United States T20 tournament. Henriques will take up the captaincy role for the Washington Freedom franchise. The 36-year-old has led the Big Bash League franchise the Sixers to back-to-back titles in 2019-20 and 2020-21. He could still be joined by two more BBL teammates as opening batter Josh Philippe and fast bowler Ben Dwarshuis are also being linked to the Washington franchise for the July tournament.
Punjab Kings batters Sam Curran and Shahrukh Khan made history on Friday by forming the highest sixth-wicket partnership for their side in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Curran-Shahrukh achieved this during their side's IPL 2023 match against Rajasthan Royals in Dharamshala. The duo formed an unbeaten 73-run stand for the sixth wicket in just 37 balls. They outdid KL Rahul and Harpreet Brar, who formed a 61-run stand for PBKS against RCB in 2021. KL Rahul and Prabhsimran Singh were also involved in a 53-run stand for the sixth wicket against Sunrisers Hyderabad in August 2019. Lastly, Shahrukh was also involved in an unbeaten 52-run stand with Odean Smith for the sixth wicket against RCB in 2022.
Rajasthan Royals suffered a bitter blow for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Punjab Kings, with marquee all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin missing out. At the time of toss, RR skipper Sanju Samson explained the reason behind the absence of Ashwin, who has been a consistent performer for the franchise this season. The Royals find themselves in a tricky situation in the playoffs race. Even if the 2008 champions or PBKS manage to clinch two points at the end of the night, a playoff spot would still remain out of their reach. Their qualification will depend on the results of the other teams. But a victory will keep their hopes of making it into the IPL playoffs alive.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik registered an unwanted batting record to his name in his Indian Premier League (IPL) during his side's match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday. In the match, he was dismissed for a two-ball duck by Adam Zampa. This was his 16th duck in IPL, joint-most by any player in IPL history. Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma also has 16 ducks in IPL. After these two batters, Sunil Narine (Kolkata Knight Riders) and Mandeep Singh have 15 ducks each in IPL.
Rajasthan Royals spinner Adam Zampa was all praise for his teammates Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal for their ability to read the game. Zampa, who was bought by RR for Rs 1.50 crore during the mini auction, has bagged five wickets in four matches so far in IPL 2023. Speaking ahead of RR's game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Zampa hailed the veteran Indian spinners and said that he has been getting some good information from them on how to adapt to Indian conditions.
