PJ Moor struck 79 for Ireland on day two of their one-off Test with Zimbabwe, but the historic fixture in Belfast remains finely poised.
Zimbabwe wicketkeeper Clive Madande set a never-seen-before unwanted record when he conceded 42 byes in a Test innings against Ireland on Friday. The runs given away by the 24-year-old Madande, enduring a tough debut after he was out for a duck on Thursday's first day at Stormont, were more than Ireland's 40-run first-innings lead as they made 250 in reply to Zimbabwe's 210. The byes were not entirely his fault as he had to deal with his bowlers sending several deliveries down the legside and late swing after the ball had passed the bat. One consolation for Madande was the record he surpassed was set by England's Les Ames -- widely regarded as one of cricket's greatest wicketkeeper-batsmen -- who gave away 37 byes in Australia's total of 327 in a Test at The Oval back in 1934.

Barry McCarthy claimed three for 42 to help Ireland dismiss Zimbabwe for 210 on the first day of their one-off Test in Belfast.
The Indian cricket team has embarked on a fresh journey, with new head coach Gautam Gambhir set to take charge for the first time in the upcoming white-ball tour of Sri Lanka. The Indian cricket team arrived in Sri Lanka last week with Gambhir and T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav leading the pack. Earlier this month, India beat Zimbabwe 4-1 in their first assignment post Rahul Dravid's departure as head coach. The former India captain Dravid's contract expired last month after India's T20 World Cup triumph.
Andhra Pradesh and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy said that he admires star India batter Virat Kohli and former South Africa cricketer AB de Villiers. Nitish was called-up to the Indian squad after a solid Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season with SRH, for the five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe. Though he could not play due to a sports hernia injury, he has created an impression strong enough to be considered for future series with a 'Emerging Player of the Season' award worthy performance in this year's IPL, scoring 303 runs in 11 innings with two fifties at a strike rate of 143 and taking three wickets with his seam bowling.
India all-rounder Axar Patel has backed Suryakumar Yadav's appointment as Team India's new T20I captain, calling him a "bowler's captain". Suryakumar Yadav - fondly called SKY - was appointed India's captain in the shortest format following the retirement of Rohit Sharma from T20Is after India's victorious T20 World Cup 2024. Now, Axar has spoken out in support of his new captain, sharing anecdotes about his experience with him. He has also mentioned that he will have conversations with new coach Gautam Gambhir regarding his role in the side.
Andhra Pradesh and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy opened up on the emotional moment when he received his Indian jersey last month and how much it meant to him considering that his father risked his own career for sake of his son's cricket.
