Raza, Kaia slam centuries as Zimbabwe stun Bangladesh in first ODI

Zimbabwe recovered from a disastrous start to stun Bangladesh by five wickets on Friday in the first match of a three one-day internationals series. The home team lost openers Regis Chakabva and Tarisai Musakanda with just six runs on the scoreboard as they chased a formidable Bangladesh total of 303-2 that included four half centuries. A third Zimbabwe wicket fell after they lifted the score to 62 and then Raza and Kaia came together to put on 192 runs for the fourth wicket and set up a brilliant victory as Zimbabwe reached 307-5 with 10 balls to spare.

Craig Ervine-led Zimbabwe defeated Bangladesh by 10 runs in the third and final T20I on Tuesday to win the series 2-1. At one stage, Zimbabwe were struggling at 67/6 in the 13th over while batting first, but Ryan Burl scored a quickfire 54 runs off just 28 balls to help Zimbabwe post 156/8 in 20 overs. Victor Nyauchi then returned with three wickets as Zimbabwe registered a 10-run win to seal the series 2-1.

Burl, Jongwe star for Zimbabwe in first T20 series win over Bangladesh

After slumping to 67-6 off 13 overs in the third and final match, Burl and Jongwe smashed eight sixes and six fours between them off 31 balls to offer hope to the hosts.

The 23-year-old is a key for Afghanistan in Ireland as well as in the Asia Cup (August-September) in United Arab Emirates and Twenty20 World Cup (October-November) in Australia. Rashid took four wickets in Afghanistan's 3-0 rout of Zimbabwe in June this year and will be part of the squad despite his commitments in The Hundred league in England, also starting this week.

Mosaddek Hossain to lead Bangladesh in Zimbabwe decider

Mosaddek replaces Nurul Hasan as captain after the wicketkeeper-batsman was ruled out of the rest of the tour with a finger injury he sustained in Sunday's seven-wicket win in the second match. The three-match series in Harare is locked at 1-1 after Zimbabwe won the first by 17 runs.

Wasim Jaffer feels that one could not write off a guy like talismanic batter Virat Kohli, who possesses an incredible strike rate and average in T20 cricket. Jaffer also believes that when Virat returns to his form, it will be even greater than what it was before he experienced the current dip. Kohli has been in a prolonged lean patch and hasn't scored an international century since November 2019.
