Young Ireland cricketer Harry Tector has made it to the top-10 in the latest ICC men's ODI batting rankings following his career-best 140 in the second match of the 50-over series against Bangladesh in Chelmsford. The 23-year-old ended the series as the leading run-getter with 206 runs from three games and is placed seventh, having displaced India's Virat Kohli and South Africa's Quinton de Kock, who have dropped one place each to eighth and ninth respectively.
Zimbabwe all-rounder and Punjab Kings batter Sikandar Raza lauded Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana and said the young pacer is much more trickier to read than Sri Lanka great Lasith Malinga. Sikandar said that Pathirana, who is playing in the IPL 2023 for Chennai Super Kings, is more trickier bowler than Malinga as his bowling action comes lower. "Pathirana is a quality talent. I remember that [Lasith] Malinga was hard enough to face but Pathirana is just a bit trickier. His arm comes lower. Malinga was side on, I remember. On that wicket, with those cutters and his 145kph pace, you just didn't know what's coming. Alhamdulillah, to be able to score those runs! I was just trying to find a boundary so I was lucky to get those three runs. I hit it into a gap. I guess when it's your day, luck favours you in weird ways," the Zimbabwe player said.
West Indies men's lead selector Desmond Haynes informed that Shimron Hetmyer had made himself available for the ODI World Cup 2023 qualifiers in Zimbabwe but did not get selected as per ESPNcricinfo. He further said that the selectors wanted to keep the same team which did well in the white ball series in South Africa earlier this year. Hetmyer has impressed everyone with his recent performances in the ongoing Indian Premier League tournament. He has played 13 matches so far in IPL where he has scored 254 runs with a strike rate of 150.30.
Cricket South Africa and broadcasting partner SuperSport have extended their current broadcast deal until the end of the 2026/27 season.

One of the most decorated players in Zimbabwe's history Heath Streak has been going through a treatment for cancer. Heath's family released a statement disclosed by ESPNcricinfo about his ongoing treatment in South Africa. They thanked the supporters for their wishes and the support they continue to show in the tough time. "Heath has cancer and is undergoing treatment under one of the most respected oncologists in South Africa. He remains in good spirits and will continue to fight this disease in a similar vein to that which his opponents faced during his revered days on the cricket field."
