West Indies enter the Super Six stage of the Cricket World Cup Qualifier with the distinct possibility of not making the cut for the main 50-over event in India.
Hosts Zimbabwe and former champions Sri Lanka are in prime position to clinch the final two qualifying spots for this year's Cricket World Cup, while two-time winners the West Indies risk missing the tournament for the first time. With four wins from four group matches, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka head into the decisive Super Six stage of the qualifiers with four points apiece -- carrying over the rewards earned for beating the teams that also advanced from the first round.
Sri Lanka defeated Scotland by 82 runs Tuesday to advance to the Super Six stage of the Cricket World Cup qualifiers with maximum points, while Ireland secured a consolation win over the United Arab Emirates. Opener Pathum Nissanka made 75 and Charith Asalanka scored 63 as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 245 in Bulawayo, with Scotland spinners Chris Greaves (4-32) and Mark Watt (3-52) combining for seven wickets.

The International Cricket Council (ICC), announced the schedule for the ODI World Cup 2023 in an event in Mumbai on Tuesday. As per the schedule, the tournament will begin on October 05 in Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. The India vs Pakistan battle, arguably the biggest match in the contest, has been scheduled to be held on October 15 in Ahmedabad too. The Indian cricket team will begin its campaign against Australia on October 08 in Chennai. The final of the tournament will be held in Ahmedabad on November 19.
