NEW YORK — Right-hander Tylor Megill was placed on the 15-day injured list by the New York Mets on Sunday because of an inflamed right biceps, four days after he allowed eight runs over 1⅓ innings during a defeat at Washington.
During Kolkata Knight Riders' 54-run win over SunRisers Hyderabad in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Saturday, controversy broke out in the 12th over after Rinku Singh was given out LBW off T Natarajan's bowling. The umpire took his time to make up his mind before finally raising his finger. As the timer for the DRS review ran out, Rinku was seen in an argument with the umpire, suggesting he had asked for the review, but the umpire was having none of it, saying that the time was up. After a long discussion, Rinku finally turned and walked back to the pavilion.
It was almost 11pm on Wednesday night and the final caller on the line was in Washington DC.
AS IT HAPPENEDThe road ahead became more difficult for SRH as they suffered their fifth consecutive defeat. However, the SRH bowling unit, back to its full strength with the return of T Natarajan, Marco Jansen and Washington Sundar, should also get credit for making good use of the yorker to keep the KKR big-hitters quiet after they opted to bat first on winning the toss. But it was the 66 run sixth-wicket stand between Sam Billings and Andre Russell that actually made the difference and saw KKR putting up a fighting score of 177 for six. The West Indian all-rounder Russell came good with the ball too, finishing with three for 22.
Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) skipper Shreyas Iyer was all praise for his team's "outstanding mindset" during its 54-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad as the players had nothing to lose at this stage of the tournament. KKR remained in playoff contention, albeit with a slim chance but what Iyer liked was that his team was able to bring their 'A' game to the fore. "The mindset we came up in this game, it was outstanding. All the boys did the right things, played fearless cricket. Everything panned out really well," Iyer said after the match. "We have nothing to lose now. We haven't played our A-game yet, that's what I spoke today before the game," Iyer said.
WASHINGTON: Colton Herta overcame rain-slickened conditions and a host of rivals to capture Saturday’s Grand Prix of Indianapolis for his seventh career IndyCar triumph.
Andre Russell produced a terrific all-round display to steer Kolkata Knight Riders to a resounding victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League on Saturday.
