India skipper Rohit Sharma did a double shift in the nets with plenty of fans adding colour to the visitors' near four-hour net session at the Adelaide Oval Adelaide on Tuesday. With strong indications of Rohit coming down the batting order to let the form pair of Yashasvi Jasiwal and KL Rahul continue opening the Indian innings, the captain did show a lot of resolve while facing the Pink Kookaburra. During the session, Indian team had four nets at the practice arena.
Team India's dominant 295-run victory against Australia in Perth has given the management a big selection headache. India's playing XI for the series opener didn't feature the veterans Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, while Harshit Rana was preferred over Akash Deep. As the experts mull over the changes that will be brough to India's team for the day-night Test in Adelaide, Cheteshwar Pujara has warned against tinkering with the bowling attack. Pujara feels both Ashwin and Jadeja should warm the bench for the pink-ball Test too.
The Indian cricket team reached Adelaide after a successful pink-ball practice game in Canberra. As the players prepare for the day-night Test against Australia, a few players went shopping at the airport. The likes of Sarfaraz Khan and Washington Sundar tried a few hats before taking their flight to Australia, with the latter also deciding to buy one. However, Sundar couldn't prevent himself from facing Sarfaraz's quips as he tried a few hats. Sundar's hat shopping also earned him a new nickname 'Mogambo', from none other than the funny Sarfaraz.
Captain Rohit Sharma will either open or bat at number three in the Adelaide Test against Australia, reckoned former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh on Monday while ruling out the possibility of a senior star coming in at number five or six. KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal added a record 201 runs for the opening stand during the second innings of the Perth Test, which the visitors won by 295 runs with plenty of time left in the match. "I don't see Rohit coming in at number five or six. Either Rohit will open with Yashasvi Jaiswal, with KL Rahul coming in at number three, or he will bat no later than number three," Harbhajan told PTI on the sidelines of the inauguration of the World Tennis League here.
