Bryson DeChambeau claimed his second US Open title on Sunday in a dramatic final round at Pinehurst No 2 that will be remembered just as much for Rory McIlroy's late collapse.
Nick Faldo believes Rory McIlroy will be haunted forever by letting the US Open slip through his fingers at Pinehurst.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam said on Sunday the team's batting let them down at the Twenty20 World Cup and apologised to fans for failing to reach the Super Eight stage.
The T20 World Cup 2024 witnessed a massive upset as the Pakistan cricket team crashed out of the competition after the encounter between United States and Ireland was abandoned due to rain. The Babar Azam-led side slumped to a shocking loss against United States before they were beaten by traditional rivals India in a thriller. While Pakistan did end up defeating Canada in their third group stage match, it was not enough as the abandoned match resulted in their elimination. Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer took to social media to take a dig at Babar Azam and Co after their exit.
Sri Lanka finally found their mojo as they clinically disposed off the Netherlands by a whopping 83 runs in an inconsequential final group D league game of the T20 World Cup in St Lucia. With Bangladesh beating Nepal by 21 runs in the other group league game, the faint outside chance that the Netherlands had despite a way inferior net run-rate was up in smoke as they were bowled out for 118 in pursuit of an improbable target of 202 set by Wanindu Hasaranga's men.
Former India fast bowler Sreesanth has called for the inclusion of wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson in India's playing XI in the 2024 T20 World Cup. However, instead of replacing first-choice wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant, Sreesanth has suggested Samson being played as a pure batsman ahead of Shivam Dube. Sreesanth's advice comes with the criteria that, if Shivam Dube does not bowl, Team India might be better off picking a better batsman in Samson. In fact, Samson should be included as a finisher, said Sreesanth.
The groups are locked for the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup as Bangladesh grabbed the final spot for the next phase of the tournament after beating Nepal by 21 runs on Monday. Bangladesh defended a 107-run target, the lowest-ever in the history of the tournament, at the Arnos Vale Stadium, dumping Netherlands out of contention. Bangladesh joined India, Australia and Afghanistan in Group 1 while the second group will feature teams like South Africa, Afghanistan, West Indies and England.
