AUSTIN, Texas : Formula One's governing body imposed a 500,000 euros ($543,250) fine on the U.S. Grand Prix promoter on Sunday after a post-race track invasion, with 350,000 euros suspended to the end of 2026.
As every Formula 1 race does, the United States Grand Prix drew out some of the most well-known celebrities in the world on Sunday afternoon. With the race taking place in Austin, Texas, it makes all the sense in the world that Joe Rogan made an appearance given that he calls ATX home. This didn't stop some racing fans, in particular McLaren supporters, from having a meltdown.
Lautaro Martinez made sure that Inter Milan kept pace with Serie A leaders Napoli by netting the Italian champions' only goal in Sunday's 1-0 win at Roma. Argentina striker Martinez lashed home his fourth goal of the season in all competitions on the hour mark after a poor clearance from Zeki Celik to give Inter a hard-fought win at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Inter remain two points behind Napoli, 1-0 winners at Empoli, as Italy's top four all won this weekend, with a huge match against Juventus at the San Siro coming up in a week's time.
McLaren team chief Andrea Stella blasted as "inappropriate" a controversial penalty handed to Lando Norris at the United States Grand Prix which could shatter his world title dream. Race stewards penalised Norris and relegated him to fourth behind three-time world champion Max Verstappen of Red Bull after the pair clashed and ran off-track in the closing laps. A five-second penalty given to Norris, who finished third on track at the flag, pushed him back to fourth behind the series leader and dealt a blow in his bid to catch and pass the Dutch driver in this year's title race.
A frustrated Toto Wolff admitted his Mercedes team are struggling with "issues" on Sunday after seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton crashed out on the fifth lap of the United States Grand Prix. He referred to car problems and said Hamilton's exit was "one hundred percent the car" as he was "not even pushing at that stage...and Lewis Hamilton doesn't lose a car on lap five like this." Wolff also spoke out about the inconsistencies of stewards' decisions that on Sunday included a five-second penalty for George Russell who finished a fine sixth after starting from the pit lane.
Charles Leclerc led Carlos Sainz home as Ferrari claimed a resounding one-two triumph in Sunday's United States Grand Prix after Lando Norris was relegated to fourth, having finished third on track ahead of title rival Max Verstappen who took the third podium spot. McLaren's Norris was penalised five seconds for gaining an advantage by leaving the track to pass the series leader and Red Bull's three-time champion on lap 53 of the 56-lap contest and dropped to fourth. Verstappen has now extended his lead over Norris to 57 points in the drivers' championship with five races left this season.
AUSTIN, Texas: Ferrari last won a Formula One title in 2008 but Sunday's one-two win in the US Grand Prix put the constructors' championship firmly in their sights.
