The eighth day of the ongoing Commonwealth Games saw Indian wrestlers taking centre stage, winning three more gold medals. Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Deepak Punia were the ones that won gold in their respective weight categories to take India's medal tally to 26, including nine gold. As a result, the contingent is now at the fifth spot in the medals tally, ahead of Scotland and South Africa.
The Indian quartet of Muhammad Anas, Noah Nirmal Tom, Muhammed Ajmal and Amoj Jacob have qualified for the final of the men's 4 x 400 relay event after performing great in their heat number 2 at the ongoing Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham on Friday. Day 7 of the ongoing Commonwealth Games saw India add two medals -- a gold and silver -- to their kitty. With six gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals, India are currently seventh in medals tally, having won a total of 20 medals. India's Sudhir bagged a gold in the men's heavyweight final of para powerlifting to end Day 7 on a positive note. Murali Sreeshankar had also clinched a historic silver for India with a best jump of 8.08m in the men's long jump.
Day 6 of the ongoing Commonwealth Games was another fruitful outing for the Indian contingent as they managed to silver and bronze medals to their kitty. High jumper Tejaswin Shankar ended up winning the bronze medal while judoka Tulika Maan clinched the silver medal. Squash star Saurav Ghoshal also took home the bronze medal after defeating England's James Willstrop.
The Indian contingent added two more gold medals on Day 5 of the ongoing Commonwealth Games on Tuesday. The women's four team first won a historic gold in the lawn bowls event, and this was India's first-ever medal in the sport. Sometime later, the men's table tennis team also returned with a gold medal. The mixed badminton team won a silver medal after losing the final against Singapore.
