Florida State fell out of The Associated Press college football poll on Tuesday after starting the season 0-2, becoming just the third team to go from preseason top-10 to unranked in the first regular-season poll since the rankings expanded to 25 in 1989.
No. 3 Oregon led Idaho by only three points halfway through the fourth quarter. No. 24 NC State trailed Western Carolina and UCLA trailed Hawaii heading into the fourth. Abilene Christian had a couple of chances to score and win against Texas Tech. Tennessee Tech led Middle Tennessee and Central Arkansas led Arkansas State in the final minute. Old Dominion led South Carolina with seven minutes left. Texas State (Lamar), Michigan State (Florida Atlantic) and Wisconsin (Western Michigan) couldn't shake heavy underdogs.

There's always a bit of nuance to understanding Week 1 results, especially when 60% of them are from FBS-versus-FCS games and only a few power conference teams actually played each other. But we can at least pull a little bit of the proverbial signal out of the proverbial noise.
In less than a week, we will have NFL games that count and, therefore, fantasy football results to track. Hope springs eternal and everyone has an opinion on which players will do this and which teams will do that. That's the fun of being a fan, right?
